What is it
Eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that improves the appearance of the eyelids by removing excess skin, fat, and muscle atrophy from the upper and/or the lower eyelids resulting in a rejuvenation of the area around the eyes.
Prior to surgery you will meet your surgeon for a consultation to review your medical history, complete a physical exam that includes bloodwork, have photographs taken and discuss the outcome you wish to achieve through surgery. Eyelid lift is made with incision within the natural creases of the eyelids; fat and excess skin is removed, and incision closed with fine sutures.
After the surgery, the eyes will be tender and swollen with some bruising that will resolve within a few days. Sutures will be removed within three-to-five days; scars will heal almost completely after several months.
Noticeable results will appear several days after the surgery once the swelling has gone subsided and the bruising has faded. Final results will be present within a few months with complete healing.
