Hyaluronic acid (hyaluronic acid) has been one of the leading products in aesthetic medicine for several years. Of natural source, this molecule is indeed perfectly well tolerated and is used in anti-aging injections, mesotherapy, or topical care. It is a physiological filler, providing skin hydration and volume.
How does hyaluronic acid work for the face?
Whether transcutaneous or injectable, hyaluronic acid is a natural filler with a more or less volumizing effect.
What is hyaluronic acid ?
Hyaluronic acid is naturally the main component of the fundamental substance of the dermis, which nourishes and supports the epidermis. It is a colloid gel, characterized by a very strong water affinity: it is called molecular sponge. It is therefore the one that will give the skin its smoothness, hydration, and volume.
A young individual in good health synthesizes 5 grams per day, but this production loses quality and quantity as we age: this is how our skin loses its volume, causing the sagging of the face and static wrinkles by "fracturing" the epidermis, which is no longer supported.
These are the main effects of skin aging.
To reduce these effects, one of the solutions is to bring hyaluronic acid to the tissues: it is always reversible because hyaluronic acid is a resorbable product.
Which hyaluronic acid to chose for face injections?
Like any macromolecule, hyaluronic acid can contain a varied number of units, defining its molecular weight. The more important it is, the more volumizing the hyaluronic acid is, the longer it takes to be resorbed and therefore to have a lasting effect. On the other hand, hyaluronic acid that is too volumizing cannot diffuse through the skin because it is too large: it usually requires a fairly deep intradermal injection.
A small hyaluronic acid very micronized and not very volumizing is thus ideal to provide volume to lips while keeping a natural look or to rehydrate the skin.
A moderately cross-linked hyaluronic acid (Restylane®) is more indicated to fill in most static wrinkles in the lower third of the face, smoothing them out.
A typical example of a highly volumizing hyaluronic acid is Restylane Lyft - Perlane ®, ideal for restoring volume to the chin or filling a deep nasolabial fold.
Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid can also be delivered to the facial dermal tissue by mesotherapy or with a cosmetic laser.
Hyaluronic acid can also be found in many premium facial cosmetic treatments, including those of La Vallée cosmetics.
What are the indications of hyaluronic acid for the face?
Our NY aesthetic doctor will be able to work on different natural properties of hyaluronic acids, depending on the desired effect.
Reshaping facial contours by profiloplasty
On a face with imperfections, hyaluronic acid can restore volume to reshape face contours without surgery through profiloplasty.
Medical genioplasty to fill a retrogenie (receding chin) or chin fold.
Rhinoplastie médicale after flawed surgery or as a first line treatment, to smooth an osteo-cartilaginous bump for example.
Jaw-contouring to redefine the shape of a jaw and make it more assertive and more "virile".
Fight the signs of aging of the face with a medical facelift
Hyaluronic acid is a leading product for filling a fold (static wrinkle), either alone or during a medical facelift.
-Fight against the sagging of the oval of the face by restoring volume to the hollow temples, cheeks, cheekbones ...
-Filling static wrinkles at the bottom of the face, such as the bitterness fold, perioral wrinkles, the naso-labial fold...
-Rejuvenate your eyes by treating dark circles.
Injections of hyaluronic acid make it possible to restore toned skin, with a more radiant face and sharper, tighter contours.
Change the shape of the lips with hyaluronic acid injections.
Volumizing hyaluronic acid helps to correct thin lips, whether natural or due to aging. The practitioner can work on their shape for fuller, more sensual lips with optimal hydration.
Rehydrate the skin and gain radiance with hyaluronic acid
Injections of hyaluronic acid on the face help restore the skin's moisture, making the complexion more radiant, with a more even skin texture and less dilated pores. The skin, plumped up, is more beautiful and more sensual.
Even pigmented dark circles are treated, because the light pigmentation is hidden, which almost appears to reopen the eyes.
